Canon Selphy CP780 Silver Compact Photo Printer

Canon Selphy CP780 Silver Compact Photo Printer

I Bought this printer a couple weeks back...hooked it up in minutes...didnt actually need the user manual except for making sure i am inserting the paper correct side up. Rest all works great. Canon needs to work on the printer inbuilt interface software. It's too basic and does not allow easy navigation when u got about 1000 pics in your memory card. The PC software too is good, will not work unless u get the printer ready and connected to the system.

Picture quality is better than that i expected. The detailing of the finer parts in the image looked great.....a must buy for photo enthusiasts....

Evaluation of Canon Selphy CP780 printer
I would strongly recommend the purchase of the Selphy CP780 printer to anyone interested
in the purchase of a small convenient portable printer. Its ease of use is outstanding
and the results are very acceptable. Gene English

Easy and Fun to Use
I purchased the Selphy printer with a cannon camera for my parents for Christmas. They are in their 80s and I was concerned that they might not be able to work the camera or printer on their own. The camera took little more work, but the printer was easy to set up and to show them how to work it. They use it all the time and have really gotten into photography because they enjoy being able to see and print their pictures immediately. I would absolutely recommend this printer to anyone.

GREAT PRINTER
bought for my daughter and she loves it, very compact, great print quality, and well made. I would highly recommend.

Samsung CLP-315W Color Laser Printer

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

My old Brother B&W laser is over 10 yrs old. I wanted a wireless printer so I can print from all my PCs at home. As the price of color laser has dropped (and I was surprised at how low), I decided to get a color laser. I picked this up onsale for 5, which I thought was amazing! Just the day before I bought a color Brother for 0, onsale as well. I've since returned the Brother. But the good news is that I can compare two fairly similar color, wireless, laser printers. Overall, for the money, I cannot complain, even with its faults.

PROs:

* Small. A little taller than my old B&W. Way smaller than the Brother. Yes, the tray does stick out about 3 inches, but does not look that bad. And you can easily see the paper amount remaining.
* Quite. My old B&W Brother was fairly quiet. This is even quieter, although not by much. But MUCH quieter than the color Brother. Like night and day. What's more, as soon as the print is done, even thought the printer has not entered sleep mode, all fans are off. The Brother, after screaming during print, quiets down, but the fan still runs. And continues to run after the printer is in sleep. It shuts down about 10 min later... I LOVE the samsung for this.
* Stylish. A nice black finish is pretty. Goes well with black PC, monitor, keyboard, etc...
* Good color printing. Despite other reviews, I find the color printer to be very good. Much better than the color Brother for twice the $. I suspect people might not be shaking the toner correctly. I have no streaks and the color is vibrant and smooth.
* Fast for wireless. The color Brother printer, although with 4X the color printing speed, takes a long time to start printing after I sent a large (24MB) picture file, almost a min. With Samsung, printer received info in about 15 sec and started. Although it takes longer to print, the time it took to transmit made up at the end.
* The printer management page, a web server interface on the printer, has a ton of features. Most I will NEVER use. You can telnet to it. Use snmp. It can even email you on configurable events.

CONs:

* Not so good driver. The driver does not have many features.
* Black text printing is not as sharp as the Brother.
* Toner is fairly small and the rated page count is not high. Although I'm not sure how Samsung rate page coverage.

Other stuff:

* Yes, it smelled of ozone the first day. Now gone.
* Don't know how toner usage will be. I see a page counter... I hope it does not lock you out of printing when it hits the specified #.
* Setup was just fine. Remember, it will not enable wireless until you disconnect the cable.

Overall, one of my most surprised (pleasantly) purchases of late. Great value and very reasonable performance.

Great printer!
Many people here have complained about the wireless setup, and yes - I can agree that it is not as easy as perhaps it should be. BUT, if you follow the included instructions, you should have NO problem. It helps to know a bit about home networking, but IMO, it's not necessary.

As for the printer itself:

-- Wireless is impeccable! All four of our computers find it and print to it without hesitation, both Mac and PC. This printer really shines in this area - VERY speedy!
-- Color is quite good. Now mind you, I'm not printing photos...I usually leave that to Shutterfly. But for a home laser printer - yep, it's good.
-- Noise level is a bit more than the "silent" printing advertised...I had to chuckle at that. The mechanism was a bit squeaky at first, but I think that's the ol' "new printer" squeak...it's gone now (15 pages later).
-- It is slightly slower than my old HP Laserjet 1020. Slightly. For color, I'll take it :)

Let's see...I think Amazon.com has great prices on extra ink at the moment, so double bonus for me :) It's also fairly easy to print in grayscale if you are looking to conserve the color ink (as we are).

I'd definitely recommend picking this unit up, especially if you're looking to share a printer at home between multiple computers.

Great Wireless Color Laser Printer for light/medium duty use.
This is a great small color laser printer for any home user or student. I upgraded from a Monochrome Wireless Laser printer (a Brother HL-2170W) and there are a few things that I like both about this one and the Brother wireless laser printers.

The Good things about the Samsung CLP-315W are that

- It has Wireless WPA/WPA2 with AES
- It gives you the option of having it hooked up to your router, computer, or let it be completely wireless
- I quickly found the latest drivers on Samsungs website and installed them on my computers very easily
- The Cost of the printer is pretty low compared to other color laser printers, depending on where you buy it.

The things I feel that could be improved about the Samsung CLP-315W are that:

- The manual doesnt really explain that much, it doesnt even tell you that there is already toner inside the printer, if you need to remove any safety platics from the printer before it starts printing, or how to replace the toner cartridges when they run out.

- Replacement toner will be expensive when it runs out but thats true for all laser toner.

- The design of the paper holding tray is very mediocre, it can only hold a small amount of paper and it sticks out of the printer. The design on my old Brother HL-2170W was far better, you would put all the paper in a tray that slid inside the printer and it could hold much more paper.

I would recommend the Samsung CLP-315W if you could get it at a good price, I got mine for 0 shipped.

4PK PRINTER INK LC51 LC-51 For BROTHER MFC-240C 440CN

I was paying over for an entire set of Brother printer cartridges (1 black, 1 yellow, 1 cyan and 1 magenta), so I was blown away by this deal. The ink works just as well as the high-priced Brother cartridges! I will never pay that much for money for ink cartridges again.

PRINTER INK
THE PRODUCT WORKS FINE, ARRIVED PROMPTLY AND WAS CHEAP. I THOUGHT I REVIEWED THIS PREVIOUSLY.

Low Price, but great product!
I was scared at first to purchase this, but the price was so good. I figured I wouldn't be to bothered if it didn't work for me. Guess what? It did and was great! I now will be purcharsing all of my ink cartidiges from this suppler.

Thank you.

Just ok...
The item itself is just as described, once it was received. There was an issue with shipment, since the seller uses DHL. I had to contact them several times, in an attempt to resolve the issue, and actually receive the item. However, I have no complaints with the actual item, and the issue was eventually resolved. Not to mention, it's a great bargain compared to the name brand counter-part, and the printing quality is just as good.

Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer Cable

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Purchased this item to connect to an HP 697C printer from
a new PC that did not have any parallel ports. After reading
the reviews, was very concerned with such products working with
Windows Version 7, decided on the Sabrent. After plugging in
the cable, the software was automatically installed and identified
the 697C as a 690. Did not have to use the CD included at all.
Tried to do a test page, did not work well. Went in the printer
wizard, changed to the HP 697C, rebooted, and all works very well.
I'm very happy with the performance, quality, and overall price.
Highly recommended considering it was way to easy to get it running
with Windows Version 7.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-In-One Printer

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-In-One Printer

I see a complaints about the printing being faint and you should know that you can adjust the amount of ink used. The default is 50% at 75% the images are very sharp and clear. You can also specify print quality and at "best" quality the pictures are very good.

I just printed a 215 page color booklet with a color pictures on almost every page and it came out very nice. It did use up 50% of the ink in the starter ink tanks. I ordered the XL ink cartridges which are supposed to be 50% bigger. So we'll see how those work out.

But as far as the images printed, you can adjust the intensity of the colors and achieve very deep colors.

No feeding or scanning problems for me. The network set up was easy and I have two laptops connecting through the wireless router and two on the wired network.

Solid Printer
Solidly constructed, good scanner, good print quality, good cost per page and excellent user interface. The wireless was a breeze to set up. The printer does make some noise as the printhead sets up and the paper goes along it's path. However, what do you expect with the rated printed speeds of 35ppm? If you want a solid printer with low running costs, simple user interface, good print and scan quality and easy wireless interaction look no further.

HP DeskJet F4480 Inkjet All-in-One Printer (CB745A#B1H)

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Overall I really like the printer. Multifunctions are great. It was an outstanding value for the price paid. It works and performs as advertised. The printer has a tendency to jamb when printing side two of an orginal sheet in more than three pages. Start of the first copy is slower than expected before copying begins. That is not a disadvantage for me because I do not have a need for frequent copying. The copier produces brillant color copies. I would not hesitate recommending this product to others.

Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer (4206B002)

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer (4206B002)

If you are looking at these reviews for the MX870, you are probably wondering what I was wondering... "What is the difference between the MX870 and MX860 and possibly also how does it compare to the Epson Artisan 810?" They are all top rated by Amazon customers for inkjet all-in-one printers.

They are all awesome! The Epson has more color cartriges, but I am not sure if that matters. I give the nod to the Epson on photo quality, but it might just be a subliminal issue of 'more is better'. My last Epson printer was the Epson 785EPX and it printed amazing photos and graphics, and it also used 6 colors.

Both the Canon and Epson have beautiful quick drying inks. The Canon has a special black ink that is a pigment instead of a dye, which you might like since pigments don't run when wet, so theirs is good for flyers and such. And, by the way, if you've discovered that you really benefit from pigment ink, look into the Epson Workforce 610. It is fast, and all its different colored inks are pigments. Graphics and text are outstanding, but photos a little lacking.

The Canon is a little slower to start printing, but once it gets going it is pretty fast. Both Epson and Canon models have an optional duplexer mode (prints on both sides to save paper - this feature significantly slows down print time if that is important to you) and an automatic paper feed. The paper feed on the Canon is fully integrated and two-sided, so it can copy/scan both sides of a document automatically as well. There are a few hiccups with the 860 on this that the 870 solves.

It's a small pain to reload the reglar A4 8 1/2 by 11 paper in both machines in their lower tray. The Epson has an additional slot on its lower tray for photo paper that some may like. The Canon has an extra paper feed at the back of the unit that is great for printing envelopes, prints, or other types of paper, so you don't have to change your main tray. The rear feeder should accommodate heavier papers and have a less likelihood of jamming because the paper comes straight through the machine with little bending. The projecting tray on the Epson looks and feels flimsy and most people seem worried about that, but remarkably I have never heard of anyone breaking it. The Canon has a cool feature... when you send it a wireless command to print, it automatically lowers its front door for the paper to be collected on, so you can keep the unit all closed up when not in use.

If you use OCR, and I love OCR (optical character recognition that allows you to turn your document scans into text files), you will prefer the Epson because it is integrated into their software package. Canons used to have OCR software, but have stopped in the recent year. Note: If you have Microsoft Office Student and Home version, its program 'OneNote' has OCR for you to use. Most people are totally unaware of it being there. By the way, OneNote is the best program on Microsoft Office. It is what keeps me from just using the free open source office software that is so amazing.

Price-wise, the Epson is about 100 more than the Canon. Amazon has some of the best prices. The newer Canon MX870 isn't even available in most stores yet and probably will run about 50 dollars more than the MX860 for the next six months. Apple users will like the smoother integrated software application of the MX870 that was a small problem on the MX860.

Space-wise the Canon is bigger. Look-wise, the Epson is sharper with its shiny black finish, like a piece of fancy stereo equipment. The Canon has a neutral light beige look. Very officey with clean lines.

They both fax if you ever need that every now and then instead of having to run to your local print shop.

The user interface of the Canon and Epson are both easy to use in different ways. I sort of wish the Canon buttons weren't so flush with the unit, but its not really a big deal. You will need to use the interface to copy and scan, but most print jobs you will want to do from your computer.

The Epson has some fun graphics software extra on it. Again, mostly 'fun' stuff. It also prints on printable CDs and DVDs. This could be important to you. It is the best of any printer at this. I don't need it because I print on CDs using LightScribe on my HP. I like that look better if I am going to customize the CD face.

The Canon has some very useful proprietary software that you will love if you surf the Web and want to copy and print out multiple bits and pieces of articles with ease... even on the same sheet of paper. You can do this anyway with Windows, but Canon's program is easier and faster.

Both Canon and Epson have ink cartridges that are separate from the print head, so it is easier to find third-party ink and save money. Third party ink is better than what it used to be, but the OEM (original equipment manufacture) cartridges are truer and faster drying for important projects and to bring out the full glory of these machines.

I chose the Canon MX870, but all the printers I mentioned here are rated tops at their price-point. I hope I covered a few of the more notable differences to help you narrow in on your search.

Great machine, possible driver conflicts
I love the machine. I have started having Microsoft Office WORD and OUtlook crashing errors since the printer was installed. Do not know why, but that the the last change to the machine.

Great AIO especially for Macs
Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer (4206B002)

I set up my new Canon Pixma MX870 last night. Took me 30 minutes to setup the printer and install on both my iMac and MacBook. Both Mac's run Mac OS X 10.4.11. I did have a hard time selecting a brand. I normally buy only HP printers but after my last AIO deskjet 6200 decided to breakdown again and the wireless deskjet 6800 worked only 1/2 the time I wanted to try a Canon or Epson. I will admit, I haven't owned a Canon printer since my old bubblejet from 1994. But it lasted until new OS's would no longer support it. I decided to buy the MX870 instead of the MX860 since I have read on several different sites that the 870 solves plenty of issues plagued by Mac users and has a better print speed. I also read that the MX860 was slow to start. Well, my MX870 was pretty quick starting up and gives a quality print. The wireless is awesome. Much easier to install than my last HP. I haven't tried printing any photos just yet. I am happy to see that there are 5 separate print cartridges. This printer is a great value for the money. I will say that if printing high quality photos and CD/DVDs is important to you, you should go for the Epson Artisan 810 instead. However, if you want a quality AIO without breaking the bank, choose the Canon Pixma MX870.

Really cool for a printer that can do everything!
This is my first "All In One" printer that can scan, fax, copy, and print. I don't use the fax that much, but I do use the other functions often in my home. Anyway, I ordered this printer on Feb 28 and it came in on March 2. I was quite surprise on how big this printer is. Its almost 2 feet wide and just over a foot long. First thing I had to do, remove all the orange tape and wrap on the printer. There's a whole bunch of orange tape and there's more inside the printer. The instructions are pretty much straight forward and very thorough. I had to install this part to hold the ink cartridges. After that, I had to install 5 ink cartridges. To me, taking off the plastic orange safety cap off the ink cartridges was frustrating. You have to carefully twist the cap and don't apply too much pressure on the cartridge. You will know if you have successfully installed the ink cartridge because each cartridge has a built-in red light. When you see the red light, you have installed the ink cartridge correctly. After that, I put paper in it. Then I had to add a network key because I'm using the wireless function. After the printer is all ready to go, I had to install the software. Installing the software took about 20 minutes.

Anyway, I started using some of the functions. I made a copy, sent a fax to myself, scan some pictures, and printed some stuff. So far no problems. The default print settings is set to print on one side of the sheet of paper. If you want to print on both sides, you have to go to print properties and select "duplex printing" What happens is that it will print on side of the paper and then paper will rewind back into the printer to print on the other side.

Scan images are not that great, even if I set at highest resolution of 600 dpi. The images look a bit blurry.

The best part of all this is that I can access the printer wirelessly from multiple computers! You don't need a USB cable connected to one machine if you have a wireless router.

Better than good.
It just glows, right out of the box. I had a great one for five years and this one is even better. Uses ink like all of them, but if that is a failure, it is it's only one. That ink produces perfect pictures, so I can easily deal with it. My wife is now happily using the old one.

Epson Workforce 610 Wireless Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer (C11CA50201)

I just installed my new WorkForce 610 purchased from Amazon. I've installed it to work in the wireless mode, using my Win Vista laptop. The wireless setup was flawless and it detected my network immediately. I've only printed a few samples, but they look very good. Having had PC printers since the mid-80's, going wireless for the first time has added some excitement to the procedure. The one and only glitch was that the driver disk didn't work at all and I installed drivers from the Epson website. And that took a solid 15 minutes with quite a number of screens flashing. It made me a bit nervous wondering what all got installed besides drivers and the website didn't really make that too clear. Regardless, the install went very well and it's working perfectly in the wireless mode.

HP Photosmart D7560 Printer

HP Photosmart D7560 Printer

I have tried many printers over the years. Most recently, I have used both Epson and HP All-IN-ONES. I strongly recommend this printer over the All In Ones for the photo enthusiasts who desire high quality photos. The printer has six inks (3-color and two black). The printer works well as a text printer with high quality output here as well. The printer allows you to write and print photos on printable DVD's. The procedure is a little cumbersome and without adequate instruction from the manual, but the result is quite pleasant.Skin tones, highlights, shadows, and midtones are rendered extremely well. I use mostly HP Premium Plus Photo paper and find the results more than adequate and certainly comparable to lab results.

print quality
This printer has the quality of print output that I was looking for, especially for its price. My only concern is the ink cost, however the quality of print outweighs the cost of the ink.

Great printer - not so great software
Great printer overall. But, the software intallation was a pain and takes way too much space. Just a simple driver installation option should be available.

Now I love to print my own photos
The HP Photosmart printer does a beautiful job of printing my digital pictures. It is simple to use and to change the ink cartridges. It does seem rather noisy when printing but does a beautiful job. The colors are so very rich. It is a great value for the money.

great price and prints on CDs! which is huge!
needed cd printing - printed probably 75 images on CDs and still have 50% of the black and 75% of the color ink!
