HP DeskJet F4480 Inkjet All-in-One Printer (CB745A#B1H)

Overall I really like the printer. Multifunctions are great. It was an outstanding value for the price paid. It works and performs as advertised. The printer has a tendency to jamb when printing side two of an orginal sheet in more than three pages. Start of the first copy is slower than expected before copying begins. That is not a disadvantage for me because I do not have a need for frequent copying. The copier produces brillant color copies. I would not hesitate recommending this product to others.

Verbatim 95079 4.7 GB 16X DataLifePlus, White Inkjet Printable, Hub Printable DVD-R, 50-Disc Spindle

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Having jumped from a rival DVD-R brand due to too many failed discs, I bought mutiple packs of Verbatim's DataLifePlus printable DVD-Rs for a lot less than I was paying. As yet I've yet to burn a coaster - that's after about a thousand discs! Plus they're ready to be handled the moment they're printed on (possibly due to the Epson Artisan 810 printer we use). No waiting for them to 'dry' or worrying about smudged prints.

Inexpensive, well crafted and fail-free. Nice!

Epson Workforce 610 Wireless Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer (C11CA50201)

Haven't tried to print any photos yet, but the text print quality has been very good and sharp. It's pretty noisy, but the print speed is great, and the size and shape of the printer is convenient and attractive.

Great Buy
Got the product for a bargain.

Shipping was fast. Product intact and working well.

Epson Workforce 610 Printer
Printer was easy to set up and print quality is excellent. However, you have to suffer the high noise level to get high quality print. I am a deep sleeper and this thing could wake me up!

Quality Ink for low price
The ink was easy to order, was of good quality at a reasonable price. I received the order in a reasonable time frame. I would definetly order again.

Brother MFC-495CW Inkjet Color Multifunction Centre with Wireless Networking for the Small Office/Home Office

Brother MFC-495CW Inkjet Color Multifunction Centre with Wireless Networking for the Small Office/Home Office

I have Epson, HP, and Konica-Minolta printers. The last all-in-one printers I've had were HP's and Epson's. They seem to last several years and then need replacing. I am hoping this Brother printer will last as long. It's very reasonable priced and the inks are also reasonable. The main features that I was looking for was Mac compatibility and Ooma faxing. I didn't need it for copying, which is a good thing as it doesn't copy very easily.

Pros:
- Print quality is good.
- Works with Mac OS X 10.6.2 Leopard.
- Works with Ooma VOIP most of the time sending faxes and all of the time receiving faxes. (dial *99 before sending to get best results and hook directly to the Ooma hub)
- Networking features work really well over Ethernet. Easy to setup and implement.
- Scanning works reasonably well.
- Print cartridges are economical.

Cons:
- Copy function controls are a bit difficult to use.

Overall a good little printer for the price with inexpensive ink cartridges.

nice for the price
For 0, you can't go wrong. I have owned countless HP's and Epson's and they are all about the same. I work in a office with decent amount of invoices and lists to print. What is the true difference???? The price of the ink. If you are using this for work and need great presentations and colors, you should be buying a much more expensive printer. Wouldn't race in NASCAR with a Dodge Neon so why even discuss the quality of the print if you are buying this MFC. The machine prints well enough to send to anyone that is not in the printing business, faxes okay (no complaints from any recipent so far), scans well, and finally, the copies came out fine...

Now the good part, the ink is not expensive compared to HP and Epson. They have non-OEM for less, but that is taking a risk (ink may leak) so I decided to pay more for original blk cartridge (meaning about pennies more per page) but I am sure my printer will last as long as I don't get tired of it.

Good if you print often, otherwise look elsewhere
I have not used this exact model, but we have four different earlier models with the same basic design as this printer.
The good: prints well enough for office copies (have not tried high quality photo printing), rarely if ever jams on us, fast draft copies, scanner works well enough. An incredible value and feature set for the money. Also good is that the print head is not built into the ink tanks, so you can get cheap ink replacements. Surprisingly, the ADF is reliable and doesn't jam when feeding multiple sheets, as long as the pages aren't dog-eared. The ones that we print/scan with frequently (every day) have been real reliable workhorses.
The bad: if you don't print often, like going a week or two without printing, eventually one of the print heads will clog. This is pretty much true of almost any inkjet printer, and the Brothers are no different. Inkjet printers need to be used. All inkjet printers, including the Brother, have head cleaning commands to fix this. However, at some point, you will find that this is not enough, and you simply cannot get the printer to print one or more colors. When this happens, your only hope is to clean the printheads manually. The problem with the Brother printers of this design is that the print heads are buried inside the printer and are completely inaccessible. Also, it is impossible to disassemble the printer to access the print heads to clean them. At some point, if you're not consistently printing fairly often, you may find that this product is hopelessly clogged and unusable as a printer, as we have on two that we use infrequently. For infrequent printing, I would recommend looking at a plain inkjet printer that gives you easy access to the print heads. Then again, for this price, if you only get a couple of years out of it, it's not all that bad.

Epson Artisan 810 Wireless Touch Screen Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer (C11CA52201)

Epson Artisan 810 Wireless Touchscreen Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer (C11CA52201)

Well, to start, I can't vouch for the longevity of this product because I haven't had it more than a month now. It was quite simple to set up and get the drivers installed. Print quality is outstanding and the speed wasn't too bad either (depending on the resolution of your print job). It is a bit noisy, but that goes without saying. Most ink-jets are noisy for the most part. The wifi was cake to set up. I really haven't used the scanner too much, but thus far, it seems to work nicely. I've got a Mac PowerPC laptop that it found and installed very easily. I've not used the fax feature yet.

Pros:

- Integrated WIFI
- Very easy to set up
- Outstanding print quality
- Comes with duplex unit (print front and back w/out having to touch your paper!)

Cons:

- It's a bit noisy
- Ink cartridges drain pretty quickly

Great Printer
This is a great all-in-one printer. I own two of them (different locations) and have not had any problems with either one.

Great Printer
This is a great printer. The only complaint I have is, the ink is supposed to not run. I did some business cards, waited 4 days, ran water on it and it did run. Other than that it is wonderful and easy to set up.

Epson Printer
I love my printer. I was concerned with the other reviews on setting up the WIFI but I did not have any issues. It works great and has great quality - I love the look of it. The auto recieve fax is perfect and is smart enough to answer faxes on its own. I do think the paper tray seems a bit flimsy but I have not had any issues or trouble. I print a lot of checks so I need to pull it out and put back in alot - which is kind of a pain. Although, I have not had a single check print incorrectly since i got it so that is spectacular!

Canon PIXMA iP4700 Premium Inkjet Photo Printer (3742B002)

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

The quality of the printing is very good, and I'm overall happy with the printer. Sufficient quality that I can make quick prints without having to go to the photo store to get them printed on the expensive printer, unless they are really important prints.

The complaint costing 1 star is the need to find drivers for the printer, since the included disc doesn't work with a 64 bit OS. Fortunately this isn't the first peripheral to suffer from this problem, so I knew to start looking on my own, but to skip including an 8MB driver on a CD is just lazy. Since I don't care about the rest of the "free" software, the fact that it didn't install didn't matter.

Also annoying, but not really sure what to do about it, is the inclusion of the majority of the equipment to print directly on CDs, yet Canon decided to skip including the necessary tray for doing this. Since I've never had a printer to do this before, I wasn't trying to get a replacement with this feature, but to get so close, again seems just plain lazy.

Ok Printer
The printer is working fine. Usually I was lucky with Canon printers. The last one, IP3000, I had it for over 5 years...

Canon fails in the packaging department big time
I've purchased the 4700 because my old one (Canon Pixma iP1500) stopped functioning one day. I'm a big fan of Canon and their quality - especially SLR cameras and scanners - so I bought the best A4 Canon printer available.

I know the print quality of Canon is great when genuine ink and paper are used. I also know that ink tanks are very expensive and need replacement way too soon. This is the game. There are enough reviews about the quality and the ink consumption.

What I'm very angry about is how much junk they include in the box!

After I got the warranty, the sample set of photo paper and the printer itself, I still got about half a box full of useless leaflets, papers, documents, explanations, warnings and other things - so much wasted paper. It's a shame. They've also included a CD full of software which nobody will ever use, and some outdated drivers, which every normal person will download from [...] anyway.

But the best part is yet to come:

There is no USB cable.

You have a 0 printer with all those papers and accessories, but you can't print a single page because you don't have the cable to connect it to your computer.

I'm speechless.

Canon, you should learn from Apple how to do your packaging. You need to be more responsible.

as adverised
very satisfied for the price, however a usb cable for printer was not included, requiring a special trip to purchase one. seems pretty petty for a .00 cable. should be packaged ready to set-up

Decent, low-cost printer, photos don't pop though
I switched to this from an older Epson because I didn't use the Epson enough, so had to clean the ink cartridges on it every single time almost that I printed which resulted in a lot of wasted ink. I wasn't looking for something to replace that per se, just for something that allowed me to, once in awhile, print out some photos at home.

For the price, you honestly can't really go wrong with this. It does what it says it will. I also just went 3 weeks between printings, and when I went to print something today, I had no issues doing so which is huge in my book.

My only real complaint with it is that the photos just don't "pop". All of them look a little washed out. Yes, I've calibrated my monitor, and I've even had the same photos printed out through Snapfish/Walgreens and Shutterfly, and they look great coming from there.

If this is all you can afford, then it's fine, but if you have the money and want to print out photos a lot, then I'd recommend something else with better quality.

Canon PIXMA MP490 Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer (3745B002)

Monday, December 7th, 2009

I got this printer at American TV two christmas's ago for ! I figured at that price why not? It really is a great printer! Photo's could be sharper. Right away I printed an 8x10 of my lil guys headshot, and you could see his baby fine hair pretty crisp. Since then it seems as if it's gone downhill a little. 4x6's are great but you can tell they are 'at home' quality. I have a 8MP Canon camera.

Pros
-Good pictures
-Scanner is easy and it will even repair older 'fuzzy' pictures.
-Copier is as easy as putting it on the glass and pressing Start.
- Print directly from a SD card and/or a USB flash drive also.

Cons
-If you misplace the drivers and 'wipe' your computer good luck getting the drivers from online for all the functions
-Ink is kinda expensive for the 2pak of color and black, you can get a 3 pack at Sam's club for which contains the 2 of the great XL black cartridges.
-It uses quite a bit of ink, black especially which suprised me.

When trying to decide on this printer i found several people that had a ink error code and the whole thing would quit working. I have had this printer for a year and a half with heavy use and I have changed ink more times then I can count and it's just fine. I bought one at the same time for my brother for the as well and his is working great too!

Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Photo Printer (3747B002)

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Photo Printer (3747B002)

If you are new to inkjet printers (like I am) you might want to take the time and read this long review. If inkjets are old hat, just ignore this review.

This is my first inkjet color printer (I have a laser printer I use for text, which is the only way to go if you print a lot of text). The Canon PIXMA mp560 is a fairly nice looking printer, but nothing I'd write home about. When all closed up, it looks more like a small suitcase than a printer (about 17" w x 6" h x 15" d). You'll add another 6 inches in height with the rear paper feeder extended (not including the paper itself) and perhaps 3 inches to its depth. It came packaged well, but there was a lot of tape stuck everywhere one could possibly look.

Setting it up and putting the ink cartridges in does take some time for a novice user like myself, but it is pretty straight forward and the instructions were easy to follow. I hooked it up with a USB printer cable (not supplied, but I have a few on hand). I may or may not mess with the wi-fi setup, even though that was one of the functions I initially wanted. I installed the provided Canon software and everything seems to be working properly. I run Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard).

The 560 has a small 2-inch LCD screen that one can use. The controls seem logical and it was pretty simple to poke around and see how they work. However, I doubt I'll use it much. I use the supplied software for the Mac (although it is surprisingly slow and has a few minor bugs -- settings sometimes don't take or don't always function the way they should). The few times I printed text, I just hit command P. I checked the print quality on text (just out of curiosity) and it looked surprisingly good. I also liked that the front door of the receiving tray opens up automatically when you print anything. Pretty nifty.

I really didn't need an all-in-one (AOI) printer, but the price difference was only 15 bucks (at the time) vs the PIXMA ip4700 I was looking at. The scanner is suppose to be 2400 x 4800 dpi, so I scanned a 5 x 7 photo and printed it on 4 x 6 glossy paper (on vivid setting) and I thought it turned out great, which indicated to me that this printer does indeed scan at high resolutions. It surprised me so much that perhaps I will use the scanner more than I ever anticipated. Just be aware that there is no FAX function, or bluetooth capability (bluetooth is a 50 buck add-on).

I also ran a few tests on photographs my son emailed me (the main reason anyone buys this type of printer is for photos). At its default setting, the pictures were decent, but a bit washed out. However, on the vivid setting, these photos were quite impressive (just like the scanned photo), at least I was very happy with them (Canon supplies a few sheets of their photo glossy paper and it's really nice paper). As far as the print speed goes, that was not one of my biggest concerns. I think the 4 x 6 photos printed out in a reasonable time (although prep is a little slow), and I liked that the printer starts up quickly after being turned off. Now if I was a heavy user, I might think differently, especially if I were printing out 8 x 10s. I do think it's too slow for text, but that's comparing it with my laser printer (which one shouldn't do). Besides, I use this inkjet for only the occasional photograph or printing out an occasional CD cover and insert, and not for text. I also found this printer surprisingly quiet as it is printing. When preparing to print, mechanically it will make noise (same as when scanning), but actual printing is another matter.

Printing photos to standard bond paper is a no-no. Hey, I knew it was, but I was testing as many things as possible concerning this printer. The picture came out fuzzy and washed out. Printed on glossy paper, it prints out great (as I mentioned above).

This being my first inkjet (or Canon product), I had a hard time locating the front paper cassette. I was surprised when I stumble onto it. It pulls out from the bottom front of the unit (yes, the directions show this, but I was having one of those "duh" moments). I read where it is suppose to hold 80 sheets of paper (or 150 sheets depending upon the professional review one reads). Perhaps 80 might be correct, but I doubt 150 sheets. Personally, I wouldn't go more than 50 sheets of 24 lb. bond. I like that the front cassette is hidden from view (it's nice not to have a paper cassette sticking out). It also comes with a rear feeder for thicker paper stock (photo paper or card stock) and 8-1/2 x 14 inch paper (legal size). Having two different sources to print from is a nice feature.

This printer also has duplex printing capability. Well, it's more of a novelty really, because it is extremely slow printing this way. But if you have the time, this machine will do it for you without problems. Just go out and have a cup of coffee while it's printing (maybe even two if it's a fairly long document). And whether one uses standard paper, thicker high gloss paper, or even card stock (I tested it on 110 lb. card stock), this printer works without paper jamming. I will say that it pulled in the last two sheets of photo paper when it should have taken only one (but it did not jam). I also waited several days before I printed anything again. I wanted to see if the ink heads dried out a bit, but I had no problem with it. This machine does test the ink heads, which will no doubt use up ink far more rapidly.

All-in-all, a nicely designed and inexpensive multi-function printer that more than meets my meager needs and expectations. And because this Canon does so many things well, I give the 560 a 7 out of 10 (or a marginal 4-star rating). With reasonable ink prices, I'd up this rating to perhaps a marginal 5 stars. Just realize that I have no idea how it compares to other brands or even to other Canons.

I guess the biggest downside for me was to learn that I couldn't pop in a USB flash drive (the connection ports in front are different, so I'm not sure what the write up talks about as far as USB flash drives). And while the front ports are hidden and gives the printer a nice clean look (the ports are deeply recessed behind a small panel), one needs a flashlight to connect anything. I also suspect for those that don't have a laser printer, the print speeds for text may be an issue, especially if you want to print both sides of a sheet of paper. I also realize that for those who heavily use an inkjet printer, ink costs will be another big issue (one full set of 5 ink cartridges will cost around 60 percent of the price of the printer -- one professional reviewer called it larceny), but that's probably typical of most inkjet printers. BTW, I thought people were kidding when they said that when the printer runs out of ink, just buy a new printer (they are not far from wrong).

Great Printer at a Great Price
I've had a Canon printer previously, so I expected good things. I wasn't disappointed. You can't beat the features and quality of this unit for the price. It is sturdily made, not one of those flimsy things. It has a flip up LCD screen and navigational buttons. You can plug in your digital camera or you can put the camera cards into the machine to print out pictures. It's wireless, of course, which is great. It also copies and scans, and you have the option of scanning into .pdf format, which is cool. It can duplex also, though I think you have to flip the paper for that, like it prints all the odd pages then you flip and it prints the even sides. I have a printer at work that prints on both sides without having to flip, but for the price, I can't complain. I've never had a problem with the wireless connection. The unit is on the top floor, as is my router, but I can print out things sitting in the basement with my laptop. Printing is extremely quiet; occasionally I'm not sure the document actually printed, but it did, I just didn't hear it, even though sitting in the room. My favorite thing with Cannon is how each color of ink is separate, so you just buy what you need. And, my inks have lasted a long time. I'm totally happy with the purchase.

Works well in mixed PC-Mac home
I previously an HP printer connected to my Mac for a couple of years but the Vista PC's in my home always had trouble using it. So, I finally gave in and purchased this Canon printer. After using it for several months I can confidently say that I am very happy with it. It was easy to connect to my Linksys wireless router and the Mac, a Vista laptop a Windows XP laptop and Vista desktop can all print via wireless connection. And the best thing is, my Mac no longer has to be powered on for everyone else to print! I have also found that my Mac can connect to the printer via USB as well if so desired. Oh, I also like how the front door can be closed but, it will open automatically when a print job starts! Ink usage seems reasonable so far.

Good midrange printer
I have had this printer for over a month now. It doesn't get used daily but often enough. Ink usage seems to be low compared to what I have read about a lot of other printers in this class. The wireless setup was fairly easy and has worked perfeclty. It's not the fastest printer especially when doing two sided but fast enough for home use. Quality has been excellent.
So far it has been one of the best inkjet printers i have owned which were mostly HP.

So far so good
The printer was easy to setup, the wifi is a very nice feature, less cords. The provided software installed easily. Jack
