Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

I rec'd this remote on Saturday and, of course, immediately tried to play with it on Win7 Pro.

Uh, uh. No go. Plugged in the IR and it blinked, but nothing else ... no remote, no nothing. So, I spent several hours looking for drivers, reading, etc. Tried it on my second machine - an XP Home. Still no joy. I even read all the reviews - everyone seemed to have a "working right out of the box" experience - except me.

I found some fresh batteries, tried those. Nothing. I tried more batteries. Nothing. And then, as I was putting the last set in, I realized I had been putting the batteries in... backwards. I switched them around and ... YES! Now working flawlessly. It's not a perfect remote, but for the price, I don't think you can beat it.

Now, as soon as I get my cables, the Win7 machine goes to the living room where it will take full control of the tv, and maybe, before too long, I can convince my wife that we don't need to be paying per month for DirecTv...

Best Media Center Remote with Mouse for the Price
I've had tried several media center remotes over last couple years and this by far is the one I like the most. I have two of these use for two different media centers. Button performance is great, pre programed buttons work great, and mouse functionality works better than others I have tried. For the price you can't beat this remote for basic remote functionality and access to mouse when its needed. (Plug and Play for Windows 7, use it with Boxee, Itunes, Windows Media Center, Hulu Desktop, and even firefox)

The one thing would be nice is to functionality with the prep-programmed remote buttons.

Cheap, Fast and Easy- good with Vista
works on my Windows Vista Media Center. plug and play goodness. no drivers, no installs, no downloads, no nothings... it worked just like i wanted it too, fast and easy(just how i like my women). It is taking me longer to type this review than it did to plug in the the USB IR sensor, put the (included) batteries into the remote, and then point the remote at it and have it work my Vista Media Center. and for less than 20$ i am happy a happy consumer. yippee for this remote!

the only thing i kind of dont like is that the red light on the IR unit lights up every time you hit a button on the remote. definitely not bad enough to lower it from 5 stars tho... if you want a cheap remote to work your Vista Windows Media Center... go get this one.

Those three little words
The simplest and most straightforward thing I can say about this remote is this: "It Just Works". I received the remote and didn't even look at the instructions - I plugged the IR receiver into my HTPC, put in the batteries, and pushed "Start". Up came Windows Media Center, fast as anything. Transitions and responsiveness are lightning fast. My wife and 5- and 7-year-old boys immediately were able to use it as though they had always known how.

My sole beef is the secondary use (the mouse control) is a little awkward. Not enough for even a half-point deduction, though. After all: It Just Works.

Razer Deathadder 3500 High Precision 3.5G Infrared Gaming Mouse

This mouse is high quality. It's physically large, but it fits comfortably in my hands. For a guy I'd say I have average sized hands, but my girlfriend with small hands finds it uncomfortable to use. The mouse glides across a mouse pad with almost no friction, which I didn't expect but really is a great selling point. The drivers from Razer give you complete control over the buttons and sensitivity (even allowing you to tune each axis individually). I like that you can turn off the both lights on the mouse if you so choose. I'm happy with my purchase, and would recommend it to anyone looking to spend a few extra bucks on a high quality mouse.

Razer DeathAdder 3G Infrared Gaming Mouse

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

The moment I put my hand on this mouse at best buy I knew it was the mouse for me. I purchased this mouse around two years ago, and have used it for 10-16 hours (I take online classes and game heavily) six days a week since then. I have abused it, angrily thrown it at walls, smashed it in to the table, attempted to crush it in my hand, bent the left and right mouse buttons up effectively bending and separating the pieces. I have pounded my hand furiously in to this mouse for the last two years, and it has taken everything and continued to work perfectly.
Around two weeks ago, my push to talk button for ventrilo finally began to become finicky. I downloaded the handy program keycounter, which counted my keystrokes and clicks before writing this review over the two weeks. By multiplying the 4800 mouse button 5 clicks in the last two weeks, I can tentatively say this button was clicked 250 thousand times before it began to fail. As for the left click button, it was clicked 113 thousand times in the last two weeks, which means I have clicked it approximately six million times. It still works perfectly.
This mouse has never given me cramps or been at all uncomfortable to use even after some twenty hour work/gaming sessions. (I'd estimate that I have a slightly smaller than normal hand for a male geek)
This mouse has been extremely resistant to grease and food residue as I have carelessly eaten food while in the middle of six hour raids on World of Warcraft.
This mouse has worked like a dream through all the horrible things I've done to it. I gave no thought to the decision to get another. If you are looking for a bomb proof mouse that is extremely comfortable, impeccably durable, and outstandingly reliable, this is it. I wouldn't get any other mouse (I've used friends Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (Blue/Black)) even if they were the same price as this one. You'd be crazy to buy anything else.

    Holding up well
After 4 months of use by a 14 year-old, this mouse is still holding up well. He's small for his age, and this mouse is still comfortable for his hand.

    works great

    Good mouse
Its been a couple of months and its still working =). Perfect mouse for gaming and at a good price too. Got mine for .00 shipped. Worth the money imo.

Mastercool, Inc 52225A-SP High Temperature Infrared Thermometer / Immersion Probe

    Monday, August 3rd, 2009

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the user interface it a little clumsy, I would have liked more buttons to control the functions. That said it works very well and having the thermocouple probe makes it even more versatile. I bought it to measure the temperature of molten lead which I haven't done yet and don't know how it will work since the directions say... IR thermometers don't work well measuring shiny metals. Even if it doesn't work for the lead, I'm keeping it because it is versatile and useful. Recommended.

    Leaf River Infrared Nght/day Digital

    Leaf River Infrared Night/Day Digital

I used this cam last season and was very pleased with the results. Battery life was very good. Security is top notch with an electronic passcode, a security bar that goes over the front cover so it cannot be opened and the ability to put a python lock through the frame to attach it to the tree. IR illumination is good. Have never had moisture or bugs get into the cam. Has many advanced features to fine tune the camera if you choose or you can just use basic factory settings. Video mode provides crisp pictures as well as camera mode. Night shots with the IR are a little fuzzy but this seems to be common with many IR cams. These can be fine tuned with common programs. I have yet to see a nervous deer due to the IR flash. You can see the IR bulbs illuminate at night. They have a red glow that is noticeable but not bright. If this is a concern, it can be mounted higher up in the tree and angled down so it is not in the line of sight. You can also buy extra IR attachments (up to 5) to illuminate wider or further areas. I don't think any other company offers that. Their customer service is one of the best in the business with great support and extremely fast turn around time if you ever had to send it in for repairs. I will be purchasing another this year.

    Great customer service
I have 3 of these cameras now and I have had good luck with most of them I did run into a problem with one of them but I sent it in and the customer service called me right away they got it fixed and sent it right back out to me. I also had another one get flooded MY FAULT but they took care of it for me. I really appreciated their great customer service. I would recommend this camera over all others I have tried.

    To catch a thief
I have been pleased withe the results from this product. It has worked as it claimed and has given both day and night pictures without any disturbance to the animals.
I have yet to catch the thief, but I am confident that I will and the camera will tell me the time and date that they were there.

    Easy to use; works great
When i started looking for a camera, my criteria included infrared so as to not spook game or (more importantly) be spotted by others who might happen by in the dark. I wanted good megapixel capability, and expandable memory. Finally I wanted a good locking system to keep it from being stolen. The Leaf River scouting camera had all that I was looking for. It is easy to program, has an in-field viewing monitor, adjustable range, simple interface with computer or tv, and its capable of taking very sharp pietures. It also comes with a video cd explaining the major features, as well as an easy to follow owner's manual. I have enjoyed using it and already have taken picutes of deer and elk. It is a wonderful scouting tool.

CDN Infrared and Thermocouple Probe Thermometer

    Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I have a very good probe thermometer with timers, warnings, etc., but when I want a quick glance at the temp, I blast it with the infrared thermometer. It is great for telling the temperature inside my toaster oven (where I don't have enough room for a regular oven thermometer). I use this a lot when I have a recipe that calls for boiling the item for a certain amount of time (just to give me an indication of how close the liquid is to boiling). This may not be indispensable - but is a very nice luxury to have in the kitchen.

    WONDERFUL
Reads temps very fast (thermocouple) while leaving small holes (again, thermocouple).

I don't use the infared that much, mainly to find hot/cold spots in a pan, but it works great.

Bought this as a gift for someone else and then always loved it so much got it as a gift from someone else.

For the cook and the scientist
It was originally bought for my sons science experiment, which involved finding temps of different items. He showed me how to use it and I love it!!! Would never had thought to get something like this but it makes a great gift for the chef in your life.

    fantastic item
this is a wonderful product. accurate, easy to use and easy to store. love it!
