Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Silver (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL

Hi All, this is a combined review of the following items, used in conjunction:

A.) Apple 3rd Generation iPod shuffle 4 GB;
B.) Scosche TapSTICK Polycarbonate Case with Integrated Controls; &
C.) Skullcandy S4CHBZ-BC Chops Earbuds.

I'm mot sure, but I think you can verify that I ordered all 3 of these at the same time. The thing you have to take my word for is that I use them all together. Well, I do -- so there.

What I was after was a small mp3 player to use while running. I'm legally-blind, so that brings problems into the picture about controlling anything that's too complex or has a touch screen, so I was a bit worried about using the Shuffle. I have an iPod Nano 16Gb that I keep audiobooks on, and it works great for me, but that is a Nano, and this is a Shuffle. Less depth of item, less depth of software, therefore less depth of control I thought.

Then, I read the reviews about the latest gen-Shuffle's issue with the controls being near the ear/head on the earbud line, and shorting out when the person begins to sweat. WTF? Who uses a Shuffle except when they are working out = sweating? I didn't understand that. It scared me off for a bit, I admit. I run during the heat of the day here in Houston when the sun's directly overhead so I can locate the curb. Generally, it's about 100F degrees. Sweating could be an issue...

Anyway, that scared me off of the new Shuffle until I read the reviews that tied the iPod Shuffle to the Tapstic controller. There are some good reviews (go read them) of th iPod when used with the Tapstick controller, and I'm here to tell you, they have it right. The combination works like a dream.

I tied my purchase to the Skullcandy quasi-earbuds, so I've got a IPod Shuffle 4Gb, 3rd Gen, controlled and located within a Tapstick controller, feeding the audio through Skullcandy earbuds, which really aren't, truly, earbuds IMO, they are sort of half-way between true "in-ear" earbud speakers, and "cover" ear-phones. I do like 'em though.

The Skullcandy "earbuds'" sound is good, but a bit, and I mean only a bit, "thin" compared to a true "in-ear" ear-bud. The bass is light, and there a slight high-end register, but it's thoroughly enjoyable while running. Don't get me wrong, I give the sound quality an 8 of 10. Maybe I have weird-shaped ears, I don't know. They are the only ears I know how to use.

The iPod itself is just that, an IPod. Load it thru iTunes, with all it's coolness and drawbacks. Play your music randomnly simply by turning the player on, simple. Trying to actually skip around through the songs? Not so simple. Try to do it without missing stride? Forget about it. Leave it alone, suffer through the song you shouldn't have put in the mix, that's the easiest solution.

The player is tiny, you won't even know it is there. If you get the 4Gb player, you get about 800 songs or so (average of 5K per song), and that's a lot of music -- it is over 40 hours! The audio quality of the Skullcandy earbud-things is quite good. They have tiny over-the-ear "hooks" and the speakers fit sort of into the ears like earbuds, so I suppose they "could" fit in that category.

All in all, I give this combination, as a combination, 4.5 out of 5.

If you think a cable made by Amazon is good quality then you are absolutely right! Also as stated in other reviews they really are not that expensive when you consider the free shipping. I knew it was going to change my reading habit when I have decided to buy a Kindle. But having it with me for two months I find the scale of change is more than I have expected. The two most valuable features of Kindle is to me mobility and easy access to a new, albeit somewhat restricted, selection of books. It used to be that I have to wait for weeks before my ordered books arrived Taiwan, which isn't very encouraging for exploring new subjects.

Now it has completely eliminated all others books, and often the netbook, from my bag. It is much lighter and almost as easy to flip through as those paperbacks in my office. I can often finish a sample when commuting. And it has greatly eased the pain of having to wait for the new books to come. This combination works really great that I can feel my subjects of reading has broadened in the last two months.

I think it is a very nice device dedicated to reading, which is exactly what I need.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED!
We have been turned off by audio books and were wary of this type of product. We visited a store and put our hands on the Nook and realized that it would be a beneficial product. We purchased the Kindle rather than any of the competitor products because of the various reviews and evaluations. We have not been disappointed. For those who read a lot, even if you purchase used books, it is a valuable asset.

Books not avalible
I have had this kindle for more that a year and use it almost daily. More and more I have had to go back to books stores as the books avalible seem to be very very limited. Right now on my Kindle it says "send us your input at kindle-feedback@amazon,com" Try to find this, they do not want communication. I am now looking at other readers to be able to get books that I want, not what they want to sell. Think they will read this , hardly, the are no real people to call or discuss this with.

Best e-reader at the best price.
I wanted to give an e-reader as a gift to my wife. I researched every one I could find: Nook, iPad, etc. This thing just does what it does without a lot of hype. Simple, light, user-friendly, long battery life between charges. You can pay more, but if what you want is simple and economical you have to consider the Kindle.

During the first video chat I did with this unit, my conversant was floored by the excellent picture quality. Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 with 1080p Video

I have been using the previous model Quickcam Pro 9000 for around a year, and I decided to pass that on to someone and buy this new model for myself.
The quality of the picture, sound, and the Logitech software is simply excellent (I use Windows 7). The Camera definition/detail is simply stunning, even in low light. I love the performance.
So, why only 4 stars you may think?
Well, when i first saw the C910, I liked the fact that is was considerably more compact than the Pro 9000. I travel quite a lot, and liked the idea of slightly smaller cam. I was disappointed there is no carrying case to protect the cam when in my computer bag with my ac adaptor, phone-charger and other accessories.
However, one drawback I have discovered is that the smaller size and slightly differences in shape of the "foot" means that the C910 is a little "wobbly" when perched on top of the screen of my laptop, whereas the Pro-9000 was absolutely solid. The "grip" system of the C910 is based on the same principle as that of the Pro9000, ie it is a friction grip, and not a "spring clip". I think if the foot was about a cm longer (still smaller than the Pro 9000) it might be more stable, or possibly the Pro9000 is more stable simply because it is heavier. This is not a problem on a desktop monitor, or if my laptop is on the desk, rather then actually on my lap. On my lap, or on a train, the cam can wobble a bit.
To summarise:
PRO:
-superb cam performance, both sound and picture
- simple and robust software installation
- reasonably compact size
CON:
- does not sit stable on laptop display
- no carrying case to protect it in my computer bag.

However, I still highly recommend Logitech, and this model in particular.

POSTSCRIPT: I have improved the stability of the cam on my laptop, I have taken a blob of blu-tak about 1/2 the size of a golf-ball and added it just above the "elbow" simply to increase the weight of the cam. It is now perfectly stable while i use the laptop and cam on my lap. I did not want to use the blutack to "stick" the cam to the laptop. I will figure out a more aesthetically pleasing solution for the long-term now I know a slight increase in weight will do what I want.

Works great with Windows 7!
I got this in the mail today. It came intact and I used it already. Its fun and very clear. It was an easy setup on my Windows 7 machine. It was ready to use in 10 minutes. I wish the cord was longer but it was an easy fix with an extender I already had. Now I only wish my friends and family would get one so I can see them better!

Logitech HD Webcam C910
I am so happy to be one of the first to purchase a 1080p HD web cam. I am very impressed with the quality of the picture and sound that this small camera produces. It comes with software that allows you to do avatars, photos and creative videos. I especially like its auto focus and stereo sound ability. You can do 1080p videos and with one click, upload your HD video to YouTube and Facebook. For the moment online video chats are limited to 720p image size but the software allows you to do that. I would highly recommend this camera.

Pro: GREAT picture, GREAT sound. Very happy, over all.
Con: The cord is unbelievably short, though. Wonder why they did that! Perhaps thinking that many newer computer have USB plugs on the monitor?

SquareTrade 3-Year Electronics Warranty ($75-100 Items)

I don't normally purchase extended warranties. However, my routers die out in a year or two, so, with the low price of the 3 year extended warranty, I decided to get it. Although I haven't used it (and hope I don't have to), I find their communications to be very good.

They made a mistake on the warranty period, discovered the error, and contacted me to let me know it would be corrected. They have been very responsive. The only thing I would like to see improved, so far, is clear instructions that you need to upload your receipt to them so they have the actual product name that the warranty covers. Otherwise the warranty just say's "Electronic item" (electronic in my case).

I like their site where you can log in and see your warranty information. Also, the people I spoke to were friendly.

I'm satisfied that if I need to use the warranty coverage, it will be taken care properly.

Square Trade -- a square deal?
This is a simple way to get a warranty on a product, and much less expensive than store warranties and some others. I've not had to use it, and hope I don't, but if the folks at SquareTrade are as easy to work with at that point as they are to obtain the warranty, then it will be a "square deal".

SquareTrade worked well for me!
Bought a SquareTrade warranty for my daughter's MP3 player, just in case...and I am glad that I did. The device failed about a year after purchase. Submitted claim to SquareTrade, and purcahse price was deposited into my PayPal account in just a few days. The only way this could have been better was if they had offered to repair/replace the unit, because now I have to shop for a replacement. Not a huge copmplaint though, getting the money back is way better than having no recourse at all.

Works will on 89.7FM in San Diego for the most part.
I finally get to listen to music on my IPOD through the car stereo with this gadget versus headsets to IPOD driving in your car. A month after using it, it started to make some intereference noise like a soft piercing sound --kind of like tinnitus noise...when i turn the volume down it goes away...all in all its a great item and I am happy it works well in southern ca.

Great little car adaptor
Please do not listen to the other naysayers about this product. Yes the cord on it could have been longer. But this is a great little device to be able to play your Ipod in the car. Highly recommend this!!

Logitech Speaker System Z323 with Subwoofer

I had the previous model of these speakers the X240 system, which was fantastic. I lent that system to a friend and needed a new system quickly so I bought these speakers from Amazon with my 2 Day prime shipping. The specs of the speakers said that the speakers would be as good or better as the x240 speakers... and they are. These deliver booming bass and crystal clear sound quality from the two desk speakers. It truly is unbelievable the sound that comes out of this little package. The desk speakers do have it seems two drivers (one in front and one in back) on each speaker. Each Speaker also is ported.
If you can still get this system for [...] after the MIR then this is the best deal imaginable, if you can get it for the [...] it normally is, then you are still getting a great deal since these speakers are so good.

Logitech z323 Speaker System
These speakers are defiantly worth the money. They sound great. I appreciate the bass knob on the back of the sub, but I wish it was on one of the speakers for more ease of access, do to the fact that I listen to a lot of different types of music, I'm always turning that knob. I was very surprised to find out that as little as the bass head is It hits really hard, huge plus for me.

The only gripe I have with them is that I have to change the bass volume a lot when I switch to a different kind of music, not that big of a deal though.

Excellent PC speakers
Logitec is a brand I trust and have been using for many years now, especially their PC speakers. I have been using this 3-piece speakers set for a month now. Very crisp and clear sound output from the 2 satellite speakers and deep, booming bass from the subwoofer. No sound distortions whatsoever with these. You get the nice full surround sound with these speakers, similar to that in movie theaters and with home theater systems for TVs. For under 50 dollars, you really can't go wrong with this these.

I have been searching and searching for the "right" red mouse to match my Fujitsu Lifebook P3010, and this Logitech mouse has made my day. The glossy surface and "just the right red" color makes this the perfect notebook mouse for me. The buttons are so quiet that I'm not sure I'm really pressing them, when it turns out I have. This is the first day that I am using this mouse, so I can't speak to the durability or battery life yet. I just wanted to share about the color, in case anyone out there with a red Fujitsu notebook is looking for the right matching red mouse for them. It is a good mouse, but the light that indicates when the battery power is low has never worked.

Wireless mouse
Looks and works great on 2 Dell and 2 Sony Vaio laptops.
Haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but wouldn't want to drop it. Cover to battery compartment is very flimsy so need to be careful opening and closing to access/store USB wireless transceiver. This wouldn't be an issue if you are using the mouse with only one laptop. In this case you would just leave the transceiver plugged into the laptop's USB port.
I don't expect much ergonomics in a small laptop mouse, but is far better that using touchpads.

Great product of the price
This wireless mouse is easy to install and is pleasure to use due to its sleek design. I recommend it to anyone who is in need of a very mobile implementation.

Logitech M505
This is a good mouse. I also have the model that preceded this one,[v450] that does not have the unify receiver. Both models are practically the same, except that in my opinion, the "wheel click" is better on the M505.

Travel Home Wall Charger
Very convenient to have when you're not at your computer. It will need to be replaced, because it tends to stop charging; but it will last at least six months.
