No return envelope
Seems like it's working. Just wanted to post that some of the information in the other reviews is incorrect. This does not come with a return envelope. Instead, it includes a web site that points you to appropriate "disposal facility locations" in your area.

Works with APC Back-UPS XS 800
Works great with APC Back-UPS XS 800- no problems. Very easy to install. Very good price at .50 w/ free shipping (received order within a couple of days after placing order!). Hope it lasts a few years...

Backup-UPS
Arrived 3 days earlier than expected. So far works good. For the price, this is an excellent product.

Works well but is not silent
I bought this to use only for my ADSL2 modem, VOIP box, and wifi router so that if the power goes out, I can still get online and make phone calls. It works well and I was even able to disable the constant beeping it does when the power goes out using their Windows software (their Mac software does not allow you make that change which is unfortunate though).

My only complaint about this unit is that it is not totally silent. I can hear a slight buzz if I get within about 2 feet of it and listen carefully.

Gets the job done
A good price, and provides good protection. Even a very minimal ability to be warned when the battery's failing would be nice, but what would really improve things is if replacement batteries were readily available for less than the UPS.

APC 450V review
Product is easy to install. Have had no problems with prior APC products, and do not expect any with this unit. Unit is responsive to power spikes..we get them in the desert occasionally, and the unit takes over as needed.

Weathered the Storm!
I would have had nothing to say about this item except for the fact that we had a giant storm yesterday, with electricity/lights going on and off strobe style! I was glad I had this battery back up/surge protector because I thought without it, my stuff surely would have fried. Worked well and protected all my electronics.

Plenty of outlets for everything. Was very glad I made this purchase.

A good UPS for home use.
This is a good UPS for home use. We recently had a power outage at 3:00 am. The UPS beeped loud enough to waken me and gave me plenty of time to shut down my system. It does supply software that will automatically do that, however I opted to bypass that feature. The size and number of plug in slots is extremely convenient.

Excellent product
I've been using and recommending APC products for 20+ years. I've never been let down by the quality and durability of their products. I have COMPLETE confidence that my equipment will be protected so long as it's protected by an APC product.

BTW It's cheap insurance.

APC backup review
I purchased this UPS to replace another APC UPS. Overall, I am very pleased with the product. Initially, there was a slight stench of overheated insulation/plastic, but that's almost gone (I recall other reviewers mentioning this). The UPS backs up a computer, monitor, Ethernet switch, cordless phone base station, cable modem, and wireless router. I do not use the auto-shutdown software that came with it, so I cannot comment on its efficacy.

Great Back Up
Very good backup UPS! I bought it primarily to protect my DVR, HDTV,DVD and AMP. It was easy to set up, but kept going into alarm. I found I had a defective outlet, so it was not the UPS. We had a power failure in December and it performed perfectly, allowing me to shut down the DVR and HDTV appropriately.

Does what it says, plug and play with my mac.
I just hooked it up to the mac and it recognized it as a UPS and showed its battery status and all that.

Great for Secondary Electronic Devices
I frequently blow fuses in my apartment, and I've found that the most frustrating part of this process is waiting for my Tivo to reboot when I reset the breaker. I purchased this unit to not only protect from brownouts, but also to keep my Tivo up and running for those 5-10 minutes until I can actually get the power turned back on. Easily has enough power for my Tivo, cable modem, and wireless router.

A lifesaver
I appreciate the reliable, consistent quality I get from our APC back-up units. This is the second round (the first lasted for almost 10 years!) of APC back-ups for our office. We have relied heavily on them and not been disappointed.

Sacrificed Itself to save my Computer!
I am very thankful for this UPS. I have a custom built computer and it would have fried in an electrical storm but I had it plugged into this device. The UPS fried but when I plugged my computer into a regular wall outlet to test it, everything was fine and my data was intact so it did it's job. I was impressed so I bought a new one!

Perfect for light loads!
My office simply has too many electronics -- all over the place. For the price of this, I get more than a simple surge protector, and the small island I live on has horrible power. I use four of these in my office for my smaller loads (printers, routers, DVR, cable modem, etc) and my wife uses two in her office. They've saved us countless times!

ups for direct tv hd
Bought this ups to fix the problem of the direct tv hd menu having to reload everytime the lights blink. has worked well so for. also gives surge protection for the 50 inch TV.
