Verbatim 95079 4.7 GB 16X DataLifePlus, White Inkjet Printable, Hub Printable DVD-R, 50-Disc Spindle
I used to use Maxell recordable DVD-R's with inkjet printable labels, printable to the center. But for some reason, they cheapened the quality. Not only is the matte finish impossible to write on, they removed the backing on the middle part, so that it appears darker than the rest of the printable surface. That doesn't look good. I call it "ring around the collar."
I tried Sony and Verbatim. Sony also had ring around the collar, although you can write on it. Verbatim was the best of all three - you can write on it, and no ring around the collar.
As far as recording and playback is concerned, all three brands are equally good.

Reliable printable DVDs
Have been using Verbatim DataLifePlus printable discs for several years. What more can be said for them than they work well, very few coasters and they take inkjet printing very well. I use both Dell and Plextor burners.
Solid, Reliable, and Cheap
Bought these DVDs to use with my new Epson Artisan 710 Wireless Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer (C11CA53201) (great printer for the discs, btw), and they've performed perfectly. Out of 50 discs I got one coaster (DVD that burned incorrectly and didn't function), and the other 49 printed flawlessly. I'm very happy with these, especially considering the low cost.
Some quick info that might help you out when you print them: the inner diameter of these discs is 22mm and the outer diameter is 118mm.
